Dear Martin,
Here at the NTMA Training
Center we have a variety of CAM programs to choose from in the training of our students
who are beginning a career in machining. We
choose Geopath for several reasons:
- The program is intuitive as one dialog window follows the
next to guide the student through the process of creating an NC file.
- The CAD drawing package is smooth and predictable. With a minimal number of mouse clicks, students
can produce drawings in very little time. As
with all good software, students can easily step back out of a sequence of errors.
- The program is very stable. We never experience frustrating fatal
error shutdowns with Geopath.
We also train incumbent workers
in Geopath, in which case the software is taught as a stand-alone application. We get calls consistently for training on
Geopath, and find that employees enjoy the program because it represents the right balance
between speed ease of use, and power. Intuitive
as it is, Geopath still has the sophistication to handle the vast majority of part
programming activities in Silicon Valley.
Lastly, we use Geopath as one
package to provide an introduction to apprentice machinists as part of our 4th
year, 2nd semester. The theme of
this semester is Computers in Machining.
In this class we also use AutoCAD to draw parts, and show students how easy
it is to import AutoCAD dxf files into Geopath for programming.
This semester is enjoyed by all
apprentices.
Sincerely,
